Protecting the Wetlands of the Adour Basin: A Conservation Success Story

The Adour Basin is home to a rich diversity of birdlife, including many species that depend on wetlands for survival. These wetlands provide essential habitat for breeding, feeding, and resting. However, the wetlands of the Adour Basin have been under threat from drainage, pollution, and development. GOPA has been working to protect and restore these vital ecosystems for many years.

Our conservation efforts have included restoring degraded wetlands, creating new wetlands, and working with local landowners to promote sustainable land management practices. We have also been involved in advocating for policies that protect wetlands. These efforts have resulted in significant improvements in the health of the Adour Basin’s wetlands.

As a result of our work, many bird species are now thriving in the Adour Basin. We have seen an increase in the populations of several endangered species, including the Eurasian Bittern and the Black-tailed Godwit. We are proud of our accomplishments, but we know that there is still much work to be done. We will continue to work to protect and restore the wetlands of the Adour Basin for future generations.
